In a recent mass stabbing in Germany, at least six people were wounded when a woman attacked passengers with a knife on a bus heading to a city festival in Siegen on Friday evening. The suspect, a 32-year-old German national, was arrested after the incident. Three of the six victims are in life-threatening condition, according to German publication Deutsche Welle. Around 40 people were on the bus at the time of the attack. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the crime, emphasizing that there are no indications of a terrorist attack and urging citizens not to spread false reports on social media or other channels. Reports suggest that the attacker may have been suffering from mental health issues.
### Growing Knife Crime in Germany
This incident follows a deadly knife attack that occurred a week earlier at a festival in Solingen, where three people were killed and eight others were seriously injured. The attack has prompted the government to announce changes to security and asylum policies. The suspect, a 26-year-old Syrian man, was previously scheduled for deportation to Bulgaria and is believed to have links to the Islamic State group.
In response to these events, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government has introduced new restrictions on carrying knives in public places and announced plans to curb benefits for some illegal migrants. Additionally, on Tuesday, police shot dead a man suspected of attacking passersby with knives in Moers, near Solingen.
