In a recent discussion, the validity of historical claims and interpretations of the Quran was examined. The argument was made that if the Quran mandated the destruction of idol worshippers, then during the Mughal era in India, there would have been no Hindus left. The Mughals ruled for approximately 800 years, yet historical figures like Maharana Pratap and Shivaji resisted Mughal dominance, disputing this claim. The discussion also addressed Quranic verses that supposedly advocate for violence against idol worshippers. However, it was clarified that the Quranic injunctions are subject to interpretation and context. Gautam Khattar emphasized that while idol worship is prohibited in Islam, historical and textual interpretations should be approached with careful study and understanding.
