Hamster Kombat’s first season has officially concluded. Since its launch in March 2024, it has attracted over 300 million users. A massive 131 million players qualified for the September 26 airdrop, with 60% of the allocation distributed immediately.

60 Billion Tokens up for Distribution

The Hamster Kombat team announced in a September 22 post on X that 75 billion of the 100 billion HMSTR tokens had been reserved for the community. Of that number, 60 billion will become available for distribution after the end of Season 1, with users receiving slightly more than 53 billion tokens during the airdrop. The remaining 6.75 billion tokens will be vested and unlocked ten months after HMSTR is listed. Additionally, the team will airdrop the other 15% of the community allocation during Season 2. While the airdrop is slated for September 26, over 30 million users have not selected a method for withdrawing their tokens but can still claim the allocations.

Users Raise Questions Over Disqualifications

Several users expressed displeasure at how the season ended, particularly regarding the disqualification of about 2.3 million players for suspected cheating. The post did not explain the mechanism used to identify cheaters, which caught many active participants off guard. Several users voiced their dismay on social media, describing the penalties as harsh. Web3 analyst Crypto Pioneer questioned why the sole criteria for excluding users was a “key-generating bot.” Many accounts received a “Cheating is Bad” achievement badge without clarification on its impact on token issuance. Crypto educator Crypto with Khan argued that token distribution was skewed towards referrals and influencers, despite regular players working to build their Point Per Hour (PPH) metric. At the time of writing, Hamster Kombat had not responded to these accusations. The game is currently in an “Interlude Season,” allowing players to earn additional rewards, particularly diamonds, which will play a significant role in the next phase.

While HMSTR remains unlisted, it has a futures contract trading on OKX at $0.009279. This price represents a nearly 95% drop over one month, with the contract previously selling for as high as $0.010.
