In the past 30 days, the market capitalization and trading volume of the crypto gaming sector have declined by at least 29%, largely due to a broader downturn in the cryptocurrency market, notably affecting Bitcoin (BTC). Despite this negative trend, most gaming projects have continued their development efforts. The crypto analytics platform Santiment highlighted the leading gaming projects by development, with MultiversX (EGLD), Decentraland (MANA), and Skale Network (SKL) at the forefront.
### Top Gaming Projects by Development Activity
MultiversX has shown the highest development activity over the last month. This project is a scalable distributed blockchain network designed for next-generation applications, covering sectors such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and wallets, with a particular focus on gaming products. Since July 2024, MultiversX has consistently led in development activity within the gaming sector, and its native token, EGLD, ranks as the eighth-largest gaming asset with a market cap exceeding $496 million.
Following MultiversX is Decentraland, a decentralized social virtual world where users can create memories, forge new friendships, and attend various events. Decentraland’s MANA is the fifth-largest gaming asset by market cap and has maintained its position as the second leader in development activity since July 2024.
Skale Network ranks third, with a recent surge in activity, setting it apart from its usual fourth position, often behind Immutable X (IMX) or Nine Chronicles (WNCG). Skale’s native token, SKL, is the 18th-largest gaming asset by market cap.
### Saito and Enjin Note Significant Development Activity
Immutable X comes in fourth in terms of development activity, although it did not see any significant increase in the past month, allowing Skale Network to overtake. However, IMX boasts the largest market cap in the gaming sector, exceeding $932.8 million.
Saito (SAITO), a blockchain that facilitates web3 applications directly in browsers, ranks fifth in development activity. It is followed by The Root Network (ROOT), a hub for the open metaverse and a foundation for interconnected games. Both Saito and The Root Network maintained steady development activity without notable spikes.
Enjin (ENJ), providing a suite of integrated gaming products, is in seventh place, while development activity in The Sandbox Game (SAND) places it eighth. The Ethereum-based decentralized game console Treasure (MAGIC) is ninth. Cere Network, a decentralized cloud computing platform, also recorded significant development activity over the last month.
