Pi Network continues to keep its users and developers informed with regular updates. This article highlights key developments within the project since our previous update.
**Verification Update:**
Recently, the team introduced a significant change to its verification system. Moving away from the phone number-based procedure, deemed ‘unreliable and costly’ due to international telecom issues, the project has now adopted email-based two-factor authentication (2FA). This method is currently the primary means of verification, although future updates might incorporate biometric or passkey-based options. The challenge with this transition stemmed from users not providing their emails. Nevertheless, the team is diligently working to verify the accuracy of email additions and their use for 2FA. A few users needed to undergo extra verification steps, such as liveness checks and temporary SMS rechecks, causing brief pauses in account migrations. The team has since resolved these issues, ensuring migrations proceed smoothly.
**Pi Network Ad Network Integration:**
Pi News reported that the project has started integrating its Pi Ad Network across apps within the Pi Browser. This feature allows advertisers to use PI tokens for ad placements and enables developers to monetize user engagement. Highlights include developers earning revenue in PI based on app interaction, fostering innovation. Pioneers could also benefit from increased PI usage, potentially driving demand for the token, as noted by Pi News.
**PiFest—A ‘Historic’ Event:**
In other major news, an online event registered 125,000 sellers, including 58,000 active ones. The team highlighted that 1.8 million Pioneers have utilized the Map of Pi app to find businesses, submitting over 45,000 reviews to enhance trust and transparency. Held from March 14 to 21, this event marked the first global commerce initiative powered by the Open Network, demonstrating PI’s potential as a medium for real-world commerce and aiming to empower local economies through decentralized, peer-to-peer transactions on the Pi Mainnet.
