World, the cryptocurrency initiative co-founded by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, has teamed up with Razer, a prominent lifestyle brand for gamers, to introduce ‘Razer ID verified by World ID.’ As per the press release, this collaboration focuses on centering human gamers in the AI gaming landscape. Gamers can now establish a World ID account and authenticate their identity as human using their Razer ID. This feature is accessible in 22 countries, including Austria, Germany, Poland, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States.

The ‘Razer ID verified by World ID’ offers a new single sign-on (SSO) solution that confirms the presence of real human gamers behind each Razer ID account. This unified SSO allows users to access all services within the Razer ecosystem, like game payment services, game boosters, cloud-based hardware configuration tools, and rewards programs. The initiative aims to create a safer and more immersive gaming environment globally and provide game developers with tools to create human-centric spaces and enhance player authentication for a seamless login experience. The first integration of this new SSO will be with the game TOKYO BEAST, showcasing the project’s authenticity.

Moreover, this technology seeks to protect players from bots, scams, and misinformation, which is significant given the game’s support for NFT collection and in-game purchases via Razer Gold, a comprehensive game payment service. World ID enables gamers to differentiate between real human interactions and AI content while maintaining privacy, according to Tiago Sada, Chief Product Officer at Tools for Humanity, a key contributor to World.

As AI transforms gaming, Razer’s Chief Corporate Officer Wei-Pin Choo emphasizes empowering gamers and developers with the necessary tools for fair competition and preserving the human experience. A survey by Echelon Insights revealed that gamers frequently encounter unauthorized bots, leading to a less enjoyable and unfair gaming experience. The survey also highlighted that a majority of gamers view it as crucial to know if they are competing against bots or real humans. Biometric technology for human verification is a preferred solution for many gamers to ensure a genuine online gaming experience.

The introduction of ‘Razer ID verified by World ID’ addresses these challenges, providing enhanced value for gamers and developers alike.
