- Bahawalpur: Approximately 100 km from the International Border; headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
- Muridke: Around 30 km from the border opposite Samba; a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) base.
- Gulpur: Located 35 km from the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch-Rajouri region.
- Sawai: An LeT camp about 30 km inside PoK, in the Tangdhar Sector.
- Bilal Camp: A known JeM launchpad.
- Kotli Camp: An LeT facility about 15 km from the LoC near Rajouri.
- Barnala Camp: Situated just 10 km from the LoC, also near Rajouri.
- Sarjal Camp: A JeM camp located 8 km from the International Border, opposite Samba-Kathua.
- Mehmoona Camp: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) training camp roughly 15 km from the border near Sialkot.
According to the Defence Minister, the strikes eliminated at least 100 terrorists.
The target camps during Operation Sindoor were chosen based on credible, multi-source intelligence indicating their direct involvement in past and planned terrorist activities against India. Defence officials confirmed that these camps had strategic importance and were known hubs for training militants belonging to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
The criteria for selection included:
Verified links to recent terrorist attacks, such as the Pahalgam attack.
Evidence of ongoing training of militant cadres.
Locations with no civilian presence, to ensure minimal collateral damage.
These locations were chosen for their strategic importance and direct links to terrorist activities targeting India. The operation aimed to neutralize these threats while minimizing civilian casualties.
